Job Description

CAL is seeking a responsible individual passionate about coaching to provide Club Volleyball instruction for our 14U-17U Teams. Applicants must have 3+ years of coaching experience, including 2+ years coaching travel volleyball. This seasonal position requires flexible hours/days, including nights and weekends, from November to May. Coaches will conduct approximately 4-6 hours of practice per week per team during this period, with tournament play on weekends from January to May. Responsibilities include providing specific instruction and guidance to improve player development, attending all tournaments and practices, and collaborating with other coaches. The ideal candidate should serve as a positive role model and representative for CAL Sports Academy. Reporting directly to the Staff Director, coaching development will be provided by the Executive Team. Club coaches may also have opportunities for additional instructional roles based on performance. based on experience.

Job Requirements

  • Provide specific sports instruction and coaching to improve player development and overall player experience.
  • Assist in preparing practice plans with specific drills in advance of the practices each week.
  • Adjust practices based on skill levels and provide an engaging environment for every child on the team depending on skill level.
  • Prepare the gym for practice by setting up in advance and having the appropriate equipment ready for the next drill.
  • Use active drills to promote team development and team communication.
  • Assess and communicate player skill to parent during season. Provide written recommendations to include additional programs and areas to improve on Evaluation Forms.

Skills

  • Coaches must be energetic, patient, good with children, and knowledgeable about multiple sports.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • A background in physical education, current or past coaching, and teaching experience preferred.
  • Coaches must have the ability to work with and relate to people of all ages.
  • Coaches must be good communicators, strong motivators, and role models.
  • Coaches must have specific experience in the sports whether coaching or playing competitively.
  • Coaches must be proficient in relevant sports skills.

Qualifications

  • Coaches must be certified or complete CPR/First Aid training.
  • Coaches must complete and maintain the three (3) clearances required to coach children. Current PA Child Abuse, Criminal Background, and FBI clearances are required. These must be updated yearly.
