Job Description:
CAL Sports Academy (CAL) is seeking a dedicated individual to join our seasonal AAU Basketball coaching staff. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to impact youth in our community, expand coaching expertise, and contribute to our growing organization. Candidates should be enthusiastic and experienced, willing to commit to coaching a minimum of 3-6 hours per week for practices, and be available for tournaments on weekends. The season runs from February through the beginning of June, with tryouts in January. Additional hours may be available based on experience.
As a leading sports training company committed to youth development, we empower young athletes through quality coaching and mentorship. This seasonal part-time role offers flexible hours, including nights and weekends, to meet the diverse needs of our athletes and families. The coach will play a pivotal role in providing specific instruction and guidance to enhance player development and may also contribute to curriculum development across various skill levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute practice sessions focused on skill development, game strategy, and teamwork while providing personalized feedback to players to help them understand their strengths and areas for improvement.
- Prepare athletes for competitive play during tournaments by implementing game strategies and adjustments to maximize team performance.
- Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere to help players reach their full potential while building strong relationships with players, parents, and fellow coaches to create a supportive team culture.
- Maintain positive interactions with parents, coaches, and other staff members, effectively communicating team goals, expectations, and feedback to players and parents.
- Regularly assess player skills and performance, providing comprehensive assessments and recommendations to players and parents for improvement.
- Assist with marketing efforts to promote CAL Sports Academy programs within the community, engaging with potential players and their families to attract new talent and support the organization’s mission of youth development through sports.
Qualifications
- Certification or completion of CPR/First Aid training.
- Completion and maintenance of required clearances to coach children (PA Child Abuse, Criminal Background, FBI), updated annually. Guidance on obtaining these clearances can be provided if necessary.
