What really makes CAL Sports Academy different from other area youth sports programs?

Youth Sports ProgramsWhat makes CAL Sports Academy different?

One word: Development.

CAL Sports is an organization dedicated to the development of young athletes though our youth sports programs.

One of our primary goals is to raise the level of play for youth, ages three through eighteen, in our communities. We decided that by providing a fun, challenging, organized, and creative atmosphere gives youth the chance to develop individually and in a team. In the beginning, kids need key fundamentals that are necessary to be successful on and off the terrain. Often we find with young athletes that little time has been spent on teaching basic fundamentals. The reality is that a couple hours of practice and 1-2 games a week for a few months is not the best formula for future athletic success. We’re here for those kids who find at a young age that they love a game and want to get better at it.

At the next level, these players start to develop individual identities and skills that we can nurture and support. This is when we start to individualize classes that specialize in different areas. Some are position specific, some are skill specific. Each is intended to support the player in the areas where they are showing progress, as well as those where they need work.

Finally, as an athlete grows in age and skill, we cross train. Setting a player up for success in high school or college requires an element of versatility. Being able to play more than one position or honing multiple techniques in a given sport are essential to even making a team. But the more an athlete brings to a team both mentally and physically, the more valuable they become to a program. CAL Sports Academy exists to enable players who branch out to be good teammates, leaders, and supportive members of any team they join.

CAL Sports offers a competitive travel team program. But that’s not the only thing we do. We develop skills, develop relationships between team members and families from many different neighborhoods, and develop young human beings who have a set of skills they can take to the next level on the playing field and beyond.

In the weeks to come, we will be sharing with you our plans for the new year as an academy. In 2018 we will be taking our developmental program to the next level by providing even more personal attention to the growth of each athlete. We’ll be providing guidance as to each players’ “next step”, bringing each one along at their own pace and potential. We’ll be developing the CAL community by branching out into new neighborhoods. And we’ll continue to focus on the development of all the relationships built here at CAL Sports.
